Social activities
Social activities begin before the dock goes in and continue until after close-up. A typical season might include events such as a dessert barbecue, moonlight sail, pot luck supper, new members barbecue, sleepover for the children and pancake breakfast, and, always, the annual banquet and awards night in November.
Racing program
For 40 years, sailors young and old have been chasing each other around the buoys on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons,
enthusiastic participants in the Club's comprehensive racing program. There are those who were young then and now are old but they still continue to compete with the same eagerness.
Be warned. Racing is addictive as well as being a surefire way of developing sailing and boat-handling skills. In addition, the Club usually hosts at least one Regatta during the season.
Adult training
Can't sail? No problem. The Club offers a well-established Adult Training Program early in the season which can, in just a few short weeks, turn a landlubber with no knowledge or experience whatsoever into a competent sailor capable of 'going solo'.
In addition, the Club also offers power boat instruction up to the level required by the Canadian Coast Guard for a Certificate of Competency (now mandatory).
Training for young sailors
For several years, the Club has been fortunate in obtaining the services of the Ontario Sailing Association's Mobile Sailing School which offers
Canadian Yachting Association certificated courses to youngsters. The program runs for five full weekdays in July or August. The cost is nominal.
Dates for 2010 are: August 16 - 20.
